- Nothing to do with Java
- A fully-fledged scripting language. It can be used for standalone
applications. e.g. with:
- Node.js
- JSDB
- JavaLikeScript
- GLUEscript

- Usually runs within a web browser
- Enables powerful features within web pages
- Dynamic pages (pull down menus, accordions, etc)
- Changing of pages in response to buttons (e.g. in forms)
- Form and content checking
- Asynchronous loading of page content (AJAX)
We will concentrate on the application of JavaScript in building
better web pages and look at four simple types of application.
